Picking by batch (also known as pick-waves) is the most efficient method of printing, picking & despatching large volumes of orders on Mintsoft.
With this method you can choose to filter & sort orders in NEW status to be processed in a variety of ways, such as by courier method, client, channel & even by product.
Using this method you can also print courier labels in bulk, change courier in service & despatch orders in bulk instantly with minimal interaction.
If you are producing batches for mobile picking - we recommend to follow the dedicated guides for them instead;
Create new batch
To access this function navigate to Picking > Manage batches > Create new batch
Then you will be presented with the various filters you can apply to outstanding orders to process:
Batch Preview Setting
Depending on your user settings, you will also either have a Preview or Confirm button in the bottom right when creating a batch.
Having batch preview enabled allows you to check the batch contents before you confirm so is useful for error checking, although takes a little longer to process.
If you want to change this setting please go to settings / user settings and select picking defaults tab on the right:
If you have preview enabled a screen will appear below showing batch contents where you can give the batch a reference & then hit create.
Single Line Option / Default Setting
The option for single line order only to be ticked will only process orders with one product line per order & it will also sort the despatch notes in the batch to print in product code or location ID order depending on your settings & so makes it much more efficient for picking.
If you also want to filter the batch by individual products - you will also need to tick this option.
If you regularly produce single line batches - you can set this as a default by again going to Settings > User Settings > Picking Defaults
Bulk Batch Options
Once you are happy with your selections & batch results, click the green confirm button in the bottom right of screen. Then you will have completed a batch selected and be taken to a batch for printing options.
Please note at this stage: orders are still in NEW status until you select one of the print or despatch options.
Until you print the orders, you can also go back to Picking > Manage batches and delete the batch if you need to if you have made a mistake - but once the orders have been printed - you cannot delete the batch.
Selecting Print Batch will print the full batch of A4 despatch notes including a summary pick list of all the items required for the orders contained in it and locations of the stock items.
If you click the arrow next to Print Batch - this will display two further options:
1.Print Batch with Integrated Label (this requires you to generate the courier labels first) - this option will produce a courier label on the despatch note itself
2.Print Batch with PDF Courier Label (this requires you to generate the courier labels first) this generally only works well with a 6x4" despatch note template so that both the despatch note and label can be printed on the same printer.
Generate Courier Labels in Bulk
Lastly you can also choose to generate courier labels for all orders in the batch by expanding the generate courier label bar.
Then percentage status bars appear - if goes to 100% all labels have been generated - otherwise you will get errors that need to be edited & fixed.
You can now select one of the other two further print options described above;
1.Print Batch with Integrated Label
2.Print Batch with PDF Courier Label
If you just want to bulk print the labels separately from despatch notes - hit the print courier labels button
Please note you must have the courier printing tool setup for the labels to print using this method - please read the separate guide for this: Courier Printing Tool - version 3.8
Despatch Batch in Bulk
You can also choose to despatch the batch all in one go by hitting the orange Despatch Batch button (make sure you want to do this as the process is unrecoverable)
