Overview
A kit of products or sometimes known as a bill of materials (BOM) order in the system will build a kit out of specified components and allocate component stock immediately in bulk.
This is not to be confused with Product Bundles - as with Kit Building the components are pre-built in a kit or pack to be despatched as 1 product, with 1 x picking fee.
A product bundle despatches components individually and charges for picking of the items individually.
Start Kit Build
To access this feature please navigate to Products > Extras > Kit Builder:
You can then manage existing kit builds or select to create a new kit.
When you create a new kit you can decide to add the kit stock to an existing SKU from the drop down:
Or create new SKU:
Now simply select the QTY of kits to build, the price the kit will be billed for and whether the cost will be by per item or per kit.
You can also add special instructions that will appear on the works order document for the build.
Then select choose components:
My example will charge the client 500 x 0.25 = £125.00
You can now simply add the components & qty for each from the drop down box to the build;
Once all added you can now select to preview the Kit paperwork or start the build.
You will now see the stock has allocated - i have 500 kits to build and 1 unit component of each for each kit so it has allocated 500 units of stock from each component:
Once you have started the kit build and allocated stock you can print the paperwork for the build:
Once the kit has been completed - simply re-navigate to Product > Extras > Kit Builder & browse for the Kit then select manage kit:
Then simply select to complete build.
However once the build has started you can also select to now cancel the build (before completing) and this will unallocate all of the component stock if you need to cancel the kit build for any reason:
You can also repeat kit builds by simply selecting to copy an existing kit:
Then the system will create a carbon copy of the kit where you can manage and amend.
