By default each product in the system has a default value of 0 for additional parcels required for shipping.
However you can amend this so that the system will automatically calculate the number of parcels required for an order if the product is in multiple pieces, or if its too big to be combined with other items on an order in the same box.
To set this up navigate to Products > Overview and edit the required product in question by selecting Actions > Edit. Then click the Extra Details tab:
So on this example i have increased the additional parcels required to 1.
Check QTY Setup!
The logic in the system will mean that when it is ordered with any other items on an order - it will increase the total amount of parcels by 1 unit in the example provided.
So if it was ordered with another item, the system would automatically calculate total parcels required as 2 parcels.
But when it is ordered on its own - the system will only calculate this value as the total - so it would only be 1 parcel.
If the item is a multi-parcel product, you should set however many parcels the product is as the additional parcel value.
The logic also works for multiple qtys of the same item.
So if 4 units are ordered and the additional parcel value is 1 - then the system will add 4 parcels to the total required.
