If you charge for fixed location spaces in your warehouse (pallet / pick bin / pick shelf / etc) then location type charging is the correct storage method to setup on the system.
Location Type Charging
With this method of charging, the system will only raise one charge per location ID allocated to the client where there is at least one unit of stock held in it.
So if there is 1 unit of stock in the location, or 10,000 units of stock in the location - only one charge will get raise for the period selected.
If there are multiple products allocated to the location, again only one location charge will get raised.
Setting Up Locations
The first stage of this process is to make sure you have setup your location ID's correctly in the system - making sure each location ID is allocated with the correct location type.
Please read location guide setup first here:
Once you have setup locations correctly you should have a grid of locations with a Location Type specified for each location ID as below:
Add Location Type Pricing
Once location types have been established, you can now setup location type storage prices.
Navigate to Accounting > Overview > Location Type Storage Prices:
Then click create to add a new location type price:
Once you have added pricing for all location types you will have a grid like this:
You can setup either a default rate for ALL clients, or you can setup individual rates for specific clients.
Monthly Based Pricing
If you choose to charge your client on a monthly basis, the system will simply analyse the locations allocated to the client on the 30th of each month to raise the storage charge.
So if you have a client with a lot of movements in / out throughout the month, we would recommend to use a daily charging schedule and adjust monthly prices accordingly to equivalent daily rates to make sure you are charging accurately for storage throughout the month.
e.g. £10 per pallet per month would become £0.33 per pallet on a daily schedule
Now to set the client up correctly - go to clients > overview and click on the storage costs tab.
Select LocationTypeUsage as the type, and tick the option to automatically calculate & invoice costs according to frequency as per below:
Storage Cost Frequency!
You must make sure you have pricing setup for all location types based on the frequency you set at the client level.
If you have monthly pricing rates setup, but the frequency is set to daily for the client as above - this will result in 0.00 charges being raised.
Checking Storage Breakdown
To check the current locations assigned to the client and the rates setup - go to Accounting > Overview > Calculate Current Storage
Then choose the client and change the calculation type to location type usage:
This will give you a breakdown of all the locations currently allocated to the client and their respective rates, which will alert you to any location types with no rates setup.
