Overview
You can add locations either manually one by one, or upload in bulk using an upload feature.
At the most basic level the only attribute you need to provide for locations is your simple location ID e.g. "A01A".
However if you want to use more advanced warehouse features then its recommended to provide data points for Aisles, Bays & Shelves for each location ID.
You can also bulk edit existing locations that have already been setup in the system by exporting your locations first and then using our internal location ID on your new upload file.

Location Types
Before you add locations, you may want to add more location types - if you want to charge for different size locations or if you want to assign a priority stock allocation.
Navigate to Warehouse > Extras > Location Types
Then add any new location types required for your setup:
At this stage you can also assign a priority to your location types to prioritise stock allocation logic (you will need to have the setting enabled on your warehouse for Allocate Based on Location Type Priority)

Uploading Simple Locations
It is much quicker & easier to upload locations in bulk using the upload feature.
To upload simple locations in bulk navigate to Warehouse > Extras > Upload Locations:
Then download the template:
Then complete the sheet as per below example:
Make sure the warehouse value matches your warehouse name, enter the location ID's in the SimpleLocationName field and enter DEFAULT or PALLET as the LocationType if you have no other location types setup.
Otherwise if you have location types setup, make sure you enter a value that matches your types for each location.
Then save, and upload the file - system will confirm results:
Uploading Detailed Advanced Locations
For ideal system picking logic & to use the Warehouse Capacity Map we recommend the following structure:
Zone = Alpha or Numeric
Aisle = Alpha
Bay = Numeric
Shelf = Alpha
E.g.
Aisle = A
Bay = 01
Shelf = A
Location ID = A01A
In order to use location type stock allocation effectively (Stock Allocation Based on Location Type Priority) - we recommend to have a different location type for each level of racking.
Warehouse Map
If you have provided full location data for Aisles, Bays & Shelves then you can view an interactive capacity warehouse map by going to Warehouse > Manage Warehouses > View Map
Then you can view a breakdown per Aisle of available locations:
Green = Available
Red = In use
If you click on an in-use location then you can view the contents:
Which will display any items and the quantity:
Excluding Locations from Validation
You can also select specific locations to be excluded from validation if you have "Verify Locations When Mobile Picking" enabled on your warehouse settings>
You may want to do this where scanning a location barcode is troublesome - e.g. if you are picking straight from a temporary goods in or holding location. You can either do this on your upload file by entering True in the column on your location spreadsheet.
Or you can edit the location manually Warehouse > Manage Warehouses > Select Locations > Action > Edit
Then toggle on the exclude from verification setting:
Manually Add Locations
To add manually please navigate to Warehouse > Manage Warehouses > Select Locations from the desired warehouse:
Then click the Add New Location button:
If you haven't uploaded any previous locations with Zone, Aisle & Bay values - then you'll need to Select UNASSIGNED from the drop down boxes for Zone, Aisle, Bay, Shelf:
Now just enter a value in the Simple Location Name field for your location ID & hit create:
