Overview
There are currently three methods to automatically calculate the number of parcel qtys in advance of packing for orders in Mintsoft:
1) Courier Parcel QTY - This method is based on the total order weight, per courier service:
e.g. total order weight = 60KG, Courier is Parcelforce = 2 parcels
2) Units per Parcel - this is total units that can fit in a parcel per SKU
e.g. a SKU has 4 units per parcel, 16 units on the order = 4 parcels
A full example calculation is displayed below.
3) Additional parcels per product - similar to above method, but the logic is slightly different in that it assumes the items with additional parcel qtys set can never be packed together with other SKUs.
A full example calculation is displayed below.
1. Courier Parcel QTY Method
To set this up - navigate to Shipping > Extras > Courier Parcel QTY
Then select a courier and enter a minimum and maximum weight range and the parcel qty as per below example:
Keep adding the rules until you have a grid for desired weight range:
2. Units Per Parcel (per SKU) Method
Example Logic Calculation for a Multi SKU Order:
Order contains:
SKU 1 x 10 units (with 5 units per parcel set) = 2 parcels
SKU 2 x 10 units (with 2 units per parcel set) = 5 parcels
SKU 3 x 1 unit (with 0 units per parcel) = 0 parcels
Total = 7 parcels
To do this you will need to add a QTY of parcels per SKU on each product, you can do this manually by editing each product or in bulk by uploading a CSV file.
To set the QTY manually go to Products > Overview > (search for product) > Actions > Edit > Extra Details tab
If you need to set this value for a bulk range of products Navigate to Products > Extras > Upload Products > Download template
Then simply fill in the stock code (column A) and the UnitsPerParcel column for the required products.
3.Additional Parcels Per Product Method
You should use this method if you have items that cannot be packed together on an order or if an item contains multiple pieces (e.g. pre-packed, fragile or large items)
Example Logic Calculation for a Multi SKU Order:
Order contains:
SKU 1 x 10 units (with Additional Parcels Per Product = 1) = 10 Parcels
SKU 2 x 10 units (with Additional Parcels Per Product = 2) = 20 Parcels (this is a 2 piece item in 2 seperate boxes)
SKU 3 x 1 unit (with Additional Parcels per Product = 0) = 1 parcels
Total = 31 parcels
The system will still calculate a single parcel for SKU 3, because it assumes it cannot be packed together with the other SKUS.
If there were multiple SKUs that did not have an additional parcel per product set then it will still calculate a single solitary parcel for all remaining SKUs.
To set this up navigate to Products > Overview and edit the required product in question by selecting Actions > Edit.
Then click the Extra Details tab:
If you need to set this value for a bulk range of products Navigate to Products > Extras > Upload Products > Download template
Then simply fill in the stock code (column A) and the AdditionalParcelsRequired column for the required products.
