Overview
Per pallet unit storage method uses similar logic to the simple per unit method: Per Unit Storage Charging.
It works well for situations where location IDs cannot be easily used (i.e. items are stored/stacked on the floor) and where products are stored / stacked on pallets in uniform quantities.
The system will divide the total units of stock available for a product by its pallet size to get the number of pallets available.
e.g. there are 15,000 units in stock for a product & its pallet size is 130 - so there are 115.38 pallets in stock of this product.
This number will automatically round up to 116 pallets as its assumed full pallets are always wanting to be charged for.
The calculation will then be repeated for all products.
Per Pallet Unit Type
Go go the client you want to use this method for (Clients > Overview) then edit the client & go to the storage costs tab.
Choose Frequency (daily / weekly / monthly), select per pallet unit type and ensure automatically charge according to frequency is enabled;
If you want to apply a default pallet storage price for all products, then move over to the defaults tab and enter a rate in the default unit storage fee box;
So as my frequency is weekly, i have set a default storage fee of £2.50 per week for all products.
Pallet Sizes
The crucial part of this storage method is applying a pallet size to each product.
The easiest way to do this is on the product upload template Updating Products In Bulk
Just enter the SKU and the pallet size for each product on the spreadsheet;
You can also apply the pallet sizes manually by editing a product and going to extra details tab:
Individual / override pallet price per product
If you want to set a pallet storage price override individually for each product - again this is easiest with the spreadsheet upload, this time populate the storage unit column - a bit further to the right from pallet size;
Again you can also do this manually by editing a product and going to the Picking/Storage cost tab:
Calculate Storage
If you want to calculate the number of pallets manually to check all is setup - go to 3PL Accounting > Overview > Calculate Current Storage:
Then select per pallet unit:
System will then display pallet qtys & charges;
